Rainy, cold day again today. We met our FamAlly Cares board members at the PNC bank to get me added to the account but our paperwork "was not in order" (heavy German accent - reminds me of Casablanca) , so Doreen and I diverted to a nearby Walmart and grocery shopped to replenish our pantry and fridge. Back at the campground we stowed the groceries and then took Liberty on a walk about. She met some new "friends" and explored the smells around the campground. Our friend Rachel Ellis from Arkansas organized a get-together at the campground pavilion in spite of the crappy weather, but with their propane-powered campfire it was really quite pleasant and a great time meeting new Alliance friends.
One of those friends, not a new friend but an old friend, is Bob Mitchell, pictured above. Bob is a Vietnam Vet and a proud member of the 25th Infantry Division headquartered at Schofield Barracks HI. I served with the 3rd Brigade, 25th ID while in Iraq in 2006-2007 during the surge.
Bob had a severe heart attack since we last saw him and they shocked him13 times. Bob is here and thankful to be alive, and we are so glad to see him and reconnect with him. Bob would literally give you the shirt off his back. A great American, a warrior and a great guy. We are so glad he is here and it is wonderful to reconnect with him and his wife Lorraine.
At our get-together tonight we met some great Alliance owners from all over the country. It is interesting to hear their stories on how they became connected with Alliance and how their journey has been.
Tomorrow we will pack up and move to the Alliance Factory for some complimentary service work before moving to the Elkhart County 4H Fairgrounds campground for the 6th Alliance National Rally.
Next report from the Alliance Factory!!
