18 May 2025 - Last Day at Caboose Lake Campground - Wash the RV

Today we started off watching both grandsons play their first baseball game of the day.  They both started at 0800 hrs in different locations.  We had Game Changer going on both of our phones and alternately cast one or the other to our TV.  Daniel's team won their game so they played later in the day.  Calvin's team lost their game so they were done for the day.

Doreen and I then headed into town to the post office to get a couple late May birthday cards in the mail.  We have a spreadsheet (imagine that!) to track all of the kids and grandkids birthdays and anniversaries for the entire year.  We are old school (imagine that!) so Doreen buys greeting cards for them and we have them stamped and addressed for the entire year.  At the beginning of each month we review the spreadsheet to make sure we get the cards mailed at the appropriate time and don't forget any.  We have switched from mailing cash to using Venmo as we had an issue last summer with son-in-law Keith's card.  He got his chewed up card but it was missing the C-note we had inserted...

On the way back we stopped at the Petro station and fueled the big ol' brown truck with diesel in preparation for tomorrow's travels.  The pump price was $3.909 but by using the EFS/TSD card in conjunction with the Open Roads app we paid $3.089.  They charge you a small percentage but it is still a significant savings.

Before heading into town I searched for a car wash to give the truck a bath but there are none here. The nearest car wash currently is about 20 miles away.   Arriving back at the campground I asked about washing it here, and they said it was allowed for a "fee".  They also allow washing the RV's for a "fee"!  Well, after seeing the condition of both vehicles after our dust storm it was obvious they needed some attention.  Diesel fuel-wise I cannot afford to drive 40 miles round trip to wash the truck.

So, $15 for the truck and $25 for the RV was worth it. I flushed and drained tanks and stowed hoses before going up on the roof.  The normally white PVC roof was disgusting.  There was mud trails from the air conditioners condensate across the roof and running down the sides of the coach.  I did not take my phone up on the roof with me for pictures, but with Doreen's help I hoisted up a bucket of soapy water and a scrub brush on a pole, along with the hose to rinse.  I scrubbed the roof completely and rinsed off all the dust storm remains.

Once the roof was done we washed the entire coach and then used a towel also on the pole to dry to prevent spotting from the hard water.  All the bugs came right off the front cap and the muddy mess shown above disappeared. Daniel's second baseball game audio was playing on Game Changer as we worked. Then we gave the big ol' brown truck a bath as well.  Needless to say Doreen and I are both toast at this point.
Liberty supervised the entire operation from her tactical vantage point!

After all that Doreen went over to the main office building and did two loads of shop bath towels we used to dry the coach and the truck while I worked on the route for our journey in the morning.

Tomorrow we have a 1100 hrs EDT appointment at Bradd & Hall, a company that sells RV furniture.  Last summer we purchased a new love seat and a new sofa/sleeper there but they did not have the sofa/sleeper in stock.  All of their furniture is made by the Amish, so great quality and craftsmanship.  On our way to the Elkhart Campground we will stop and Bradd & Hall and they will remove our old sofa/sleeper and install the new one which has been waiting for us for a few months.  Then we will proceed to the campground to join up with many of our Alliance friends, or "FamAlly".  Saturday we move to the Elkhart County 4H Fairgrounds campground in Goshen IN for the 2025 Alliance National Rally.

Next report from the Elkhart Campground!
