3 Sep 2025 - Dinner with Alliance FamAlly!

This morning was fairly uneventful here.  I worked on the computer quite a bit updating various things that are impacted by our changed itinerary.  I am also fighting a weird issue involving my main Excel spreadsheet where I track everything,  Not to worry, I have several backup copies including local and cloud, so I did not lose any data, but I have not been able to figure out the cause yet.  I have two identical (mirrored) Ethernet network drives on my RV network here in the coach plus hard disk storage on my laptop.  I can copy the exact same Excel spreadsheet to the exact same location on both network drives.  On one drive it works fine.  On the other it says the file is corrupt (in so many words).  The same file works fine on the laptop hard drive.  I suspected a cache issue but have not found it yet.  Frustrating but not a show stopper.

Doreen worked on various things around here and then we got ready to go meet our Alliance friends.  We first drove to Pam & Phil Lau's house in Easley SC and met George and Donna Walker there.  They have a beautiful house with a nice, wooded back yard so lots of shade and humming birds checking us out.  We sat on their deck and talked for a while and then it was time to meet John and Lisa Miller at the restaurant.

We met at the Silo's Brewing Company in Easley SC.  It was built between 1947 and 1951 and is the original home of the Continental Grain Company.  Later the Dixie Milling Company was here followed by a few other grain companies in the 1980's.  It sat vacant until 2019, when the Silos District started planting its roots.

The Silo's Brewing Company is a proud supporter of local agriculture and farmers.  They use as much local grain and other products as possible in their brewing process.  Their main malt supplier/partner is Carolina Malt house, the malted barley, wheat, and oats are all grown in the Carolinas and typically within a 30 miles radius of the malt house.

They serve a variety of food there and so we met in the restaurant and enjoyed great company, great food and a cold beer!  It was nice to catch up on what everyone has been doing.  Both Pam & Phil and the Millers live fairly close to here.  The Walkers have been traveling this summer and will be headed back south in a few weeks.

We said our goodbyes and refueled the truck before returning to the campground.  I flushed and dumped tanks and stowed hoses in preparation for our departure tomorrow.  Doreen stowed items inside.  We don't have a long drive tomorrow, about 150 miles which translates to about four hours including a likely stop along the way.

Next report from Cumming GA!
