6 Aug 2025 - Last Day at Camp Atterbury: Cleaning Day and Monster Tenderloin

While we worked, Liberty rested up in reserve!  It was cleaning day here, before we move to bourbon country tomorrow.  Doreen made multiple trips to the laundry building getting us caught up on clean clothes and clean towels.  The laundry is free here which is really nice.

While Doreen was busy with that, I washed our coach.  It was due, especially the front cap which catches the brunt of the bugs as we travel down the highway.  Luckily they allow washing coaches here which is uncommon.  After I finished the front cap I just kept on going all the way around for a complete wash.  The longer I worked the higher the sun rose, the warmer it got and the humidity made it miserable.  But I pushed through and we now have a sparkling clean Alliance Paradigm!

Later on we headed into town and to have a late lunch at the Edinburgh Diner, a local restaurant known for it's monstrous tenderloins.  It was after the noon rush when we arrived so we had no trouble finding parking or being seated right away.  Our waitress, Chastity,  said the building used to be a Dairy Queen but the info we read later said it used to be a Wendy's, which it looks like.  Nevertheless, it apparently sat empty for a few years before the Edinburgh Diner moved in.

So the famous tenderloin did not disappoint.  It is a 16oz tenderized and breaded pork tenderloin that is "bigger than your head" about 12 inches in diameter!  For $9.99 it is a bargain.  Doreen and I each ordered one along with a couple to-go boxes right out of the chute!  For an additional $1.99 you get lettuce, tomatoes, onions and pickles which seemed like an appropriate move.  I requested an order of fries to share (I'm not sure why) and we each had a soft drink.  In no time at all, a table full of food arrived!
No they did not serve a tiny bun!  The 16 oz tenderloin is that huge!!

We immediately trimmed the huge loin which resulted in enough in the to-go box from probably two more sandwiches each!  Even with that we both had a huge sandwich for lunch and there was no mention of dessert!

After lunch we drove south a bit to a Speedway gas station that honors our EFS fleet fuel card. That dropped the retail price of diesel from $3.899 to the fleet price of $3.528 including the modest fee the company charges. After fueling we stopped at a local Jay C grocery store which is related to Kroeger.  We replenished the fridge and pantry and then headed back to the base.

This evening I flushed and dumped tanks, stowed hoses and made preparations to depart at a reasonable hour in the morning.  Our drive tomorrow is only 141 miles to Frankfort KY, so we are in no hurry to depart. Check-in at the Elkhorn Creek RV Park in Frankfort is 1300 hrs, so we will bug out of here about 0930 hrs or so.  We will camp there for six nights before moving on.  We will be in the heart of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail so we will be in no hurry to leave !!

Next report from Frankfort KY!  Thanks for tagging along.
