12 Aug 2025 - Liberty to the Vet and Last Day at Elkhorn Creek RV Park

Our last day at Elkhorn Creek RV Park.  Liberty slept pretty good last night but things went downhill as soon as she got up.  Her GI issues continued and it was obvious, especially with us traveling tomorrow, we needed to get her into the doggie doctor sooner than later.  We were lucky to get into the Animal Medical Center just a couple miles away this morning.  They did a thorough workup on her including bloodwork.  No fever and luckily they eliminated one of the biggest concerns which is pancreatitis, which can be deadly especially in little dogs like her.  He prescribed a med that is added to her food, told us to continue the GI med we started that was provided by our vet before we left, and we are going to a prescription diet dog food at least until we get past this. The rest of today went pretty good although she slept quite a bit.  Let's see how tonight goes.

We got her home from the vet and made sure Liberty was stable, then we went to the local Kroger's to replenish the pantry and fridge.  Back here we dumped tanks again, stowed hoses, etc etc, and then settled in for the evening.  Both the Chicago Cubs and the Indiana Fever played tonight so we had some games to watch. Liberty seemed fine with a good appetite, which is a good sign, and no further diarrhea or vomiting.  Fingers crossed and hopefully she is on the mend.  Dealing with a 12 year old pup can be challenging especially when you are on the road.

While the Fever game was on we reviewed the route for tomorrow which will take us just 124 miles from here - south of Louisville to Singing Hills RV Park near Cave City KY where we will camp for five nights.  It is very close to Mammoth Cave National Park. We have a Thursday tour reserved at Mammoth Cave so hopefully Liberty will continue to improve and we can go.  So short travel day tomorrow which Liberty will surely appreciate.

We are also only about 20 miles from Bowling Green KY  and the National Corvette Museum with the sink hole in the middle of it that developed on 12 Feb 2014.  I distinctly remember that.  The sink hole gobbled up 8 corvettes.  Looking forward to seeing it.

Next report from Singing Hills RV Park in Cave City KY!  Thanks for checking in on us!
