25 Jul-1 Aug 2025 Wrap up at Griffs and Arrived at Kamp Komfort RV Park Carlock IL

 1 Aug

Phase 3 of our 2025 RV travels is underway!.  We spent the last week or so wrapping things up at our "sticks and bricks" home in Ankeny IA and getting ready to launch on the last phase of this years travels.  The weather at home has been brutal - heat, humidity and storms.  Two nights before we departed we actually slept at home.  Very high winds and nearly 5 inches of rain was predicated so we buttoned up the RV and slept at home.  The storm turned into a "nothing burger" but better safe than sorry.

After working through an exhaustive final checklist we closed the doors at home and spent the last night at Ankeny in the RV.  We've had a lot of "balls in the air" at home but things seemed to come together at the end like they always do.

Friday 1 August arrived and at 0813 hrs we hooked up and launched on Phase 3.  The drive today was 288 miles taking 5 hrs 18 minutes, which is a longer than normal day for us.  Our route was I-80 east to I-280 then I-74 south towards Peoria IL. We crossed the Mississippi River and were greeted by the "Welcome to Illinois" sign.

About 20 miles past Peoria, at 13:31 hrs we landed at Kamp Komfort RV Park near Carlock IL.

Kamp Komfort is a nice little campground with a 30 amp section, likely the older part of the park,  and a 50 amp pull-through section.  We in-checked quickly and were led to our site by friendly staff.  The sites are long and level.  We leveled without issues and had no issues seeing the Directv satellite.  As the Friday afternoon went on the park seemed to fill up and will obviously be very busy over the weekend.

Sites are well spaced, which is nice.  We got all connected, had some lunch and then decided to take advantage of the beautiful afternoon and head to their beautiful swimming pool.  I think this is the first time we have swam this year!  Well the water was warm and there was just one other couple there and they departed when we arrived, so we have the place to ourselves.

We have a few things identified to see in Peoria tomorrow and then Sunday we depart for the Alliance factory in Elkhart IN, so our stay here will be relatively short.  That is it for tonight.  Thanks for tuning in.
