13 Aug 2025 - Arrived at Singing Hills RV Park in Cave City KY + an Engagement!!

We departed the Elkhorn Creek RV Park in Frankfort KY this morning at 0958 hrs with a puppy that was feeling better.  She had a good night and a good morning so far!  Now we will see how she tolerates that travel today.  Luckily it is only a 128 mile day.  As we pulled out of the campground we followed a tanker trailer and a reminder of what makes this part of the country tick!

The trip south and west was uneventful and the traffic was light.  We had intermittent rain and then a lot of overcast.  The Kentucky countryside was very nice as we motored down the Bluegrass Parkway.

We passed Bardstown and Elizabethtown and then stopped for a bit to let Liberty out and stretch.  She tolerated the travel without any issues, thankfully.  Following our stop we headed south on I-65 to Cave City KY and the Singing Hills RV park.  We rolled in at what was supposed to be 1257 hrs for a 1300 hrs check-in, but it was in fact 1157 hrs,,, Central Time!  Drat!  I knew we were changing back to Central Time Zone, but I did not factor that into our travel time, so we arrived at our destination an hour early.  Luckily the campground owner had a sense of humor and allowed us to check in and proceed to our site.

The campground is a small mom n' pop operation but very nice and clean.  I make a habit of connecting up to the power and having a look at the EMS (energy management system) display before we disconnect, incase there is an issue and we need to move.  The power is solid here, but the water pressure in nearly non-existent and at least our site is very unlevel.  The leveling system leveled the coach, but the front legs are extended more than I would like.  The site also slopes down towards the door side a lot, so it is quite a step-up to get to the first stair. I will supplement that with a folding step as soon as Amazon delivers it LOL.  In the mean time I use "lego-blocks".

I did not bring my fishing gear this year, but they have a catch and release pond here  and other amenities we likely won't use.

We are here for five nights, departing Monday morning 18 Aug and drive to just north of Knoxville TN for our next stop.  We did some homework on this location earlier and secured two spots on one of the Mammoth Cave National Park tours tomorrow afternoon.  We also identified the Diamond Cavern tour for tomorrow morning, Crystal Onyx Cave tour Friday morning, Hidden River Cave Tour and Museum Friday afternoon, the Detweiler Amish Store and Market Saturday morning, and the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green KY Saturday afternoon.  Sunday will be laundry, grocery shopping, give-da-truck-a-bath day and prepare to depart Monday morning.  Of course all of this is dependent on Liberty and how she is doing too.  So far so good.

A couple more things:  Today daughter Jennifer found another picture of Lucas on the Fort Jackson Facebook page (the tall one in the back):

Also, there we were, yesterday evening at Elkhorn Creek RV Park, sitting on the couch watching some TV and we got a Facetime call from our grand daughter Hailee.  Our son Dan and his whole family plus Ashley's mom and Hailee's boyfriend Elijah are all vacationing in Florida at a condo on the beach.  Well, Elijah "popped the question" to Hailee on the beach!!  So there will be a wedding next year some time and we are so happy for them!  Grandson Daniel caught it all with his camera!

Congratulations to Hailee and Elijah!  They will make a beautiful family!
