1 Jun 2025 - Grandson High School Graduation & Campground Visitors

This afternoon we attended our grandson Lucas Buehner's graduation mass at St Philip Catholic Central High School in Battle Creek Michigan.  Lucas graduated with honors in his class of 20, and was the only student who enlisted in a military service, in his case the United States Army.  Throughout his school years Lucas excelled in everything he did including his many years of playing hockey as a goalie. A few pictures:

After the mass concluded and the pictures outside, Doreen and I returned to the campground to pottie the pooch and then we drove to a restaurant called Ned's on Gull Lake for dinner with our family.  The food was great, the service was outstanding and it was a nice time to talk with Lucas and everyone before we depart and before he departs for basic training in a couple weeks. The next time we see him will be at Fort Sill Oklahoma at the end of August for his basic training graduation!

After dinner we returned to the campground to wind down for the evening.  I started to download and edit a whole bunch of pictures and videos, and Doreen headed out for a walk with our neglected puppy!  She probably thinks we abandoned her!  Not long after Doreen called and said we had friends just two camping spots down, so I walked down and sure enough, there were our Alliance friends Bob Mitchell and his wife Lorraine, and Tom VanderHeiden (I assumed his wife Debbie was in their camper), and their two Alliance Paradigm fifth wheels!  We just spent the last couple weeks with them at the Elkhart Campground and the Alliance Rally at the Fairgrounds in Goshen!  Such a small world.  We talked about our adventures and challenges.  Bob is having some issues with his truck so he will be headed to the dealership tomorrow to get it sorted out.  Was great seeing them again!

Tomorrow is our last day here at Ft Custer.  I will take Doreen to get us caught up on laundry while I do a little shopping.  We will fuel the big ol' brown truck on the way back to the campground and then make preparations to depart Tuesday morning and head to the Michigan Rally at Mancelona for the next few days!
