17 Apr 2025 - Arrived at Branson Lakeside RV Park

This morning we departed the Joplin KOA at 0937 hrs and headed east on I-44 towards Springfield MO.  Just west of Springfield we took a road that bypassed the town to the south and got us on US65 southbound that took us right into Branson.  We stopped once for a potty break at the Branson Visitor's Welcome Center primarily for Liberty.  There Doreen gathered some brochures and intel on the local area for our 4-night stay.

At 1158 hrs we arrived at the Lakeside RV Park in Branson after driving just 115 miles today.  Again, Branson was not on our original itinerary, but we diverted here rather than visiting Bull Shoals/White River Campground this year.  We are praying for our friend and fishing guide Paul Bobby that his health improves soon.

This campground is very efficient.  They took our reservation cheerfully over the phone and followed that up with an email.  One thing they made clear was there is no need to stop in the office once we arrived.  All of the packets for the day were posted just outside the door with names and site numbers annotated.  We parked, I grabbed our packet and quickly made our way to our site, which is located on the shore of Lake Taneycomo.

Friends for Liberty to play with.

Four fishing docks along the RV park road.

Very breezy here with some weather rolling in,
so I took my flag down shortly after this was taken.

Lake Taneycomo is right across the street from our coach.

This is the view out of our rear window.

Doreen is working our "to-do/see" list while we are here.  We have plenty of time and we have been here multiple times before.  Branson actively supports Veterans and first responders, so it is always a pleasure to come here.  Our thoughts, prayers and memories are with Chuck and Sally Davey, great friends from Indianola IA who moved down to this area after retiring and are no longer with us.  Chuck served on the Indianola Fire Department and the Des Moines Airport Crash-Fire-Rescue.  He taught my EMT class back in 1985.  Sally was a dispatcher for the Warren County Sheriff's Department when Doreen worked for and was dispatcher for the Norwalk Police Department.  RIP Chuck and Sally.
